Jammu Development Authority – JDA Jammu & Kashmir

The Jammu Development Authority JDA plays an important role in how Jammu grows. Jammu is the winter capital of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, India. The JDA was made to help plan the city’s growth. Its main aim is to change Jammu into a modern place while still keeping its cultural roots.

Objectives:

  • The goal is to prepare a Master Plan & Zonal Plans. This is meant to help with the planned development of the Local Area under the Jammu Master Plan 2032
  • We need layout plans for each zone. These plans will show where and how much land will be used for things public buildings, public works, utilities, roads, housing, recreation places, industry, business areas, markets, schools, hospitals, & both public/private open spaces. All of these are important categories.
  • We want to do anything necessary for the development of the Jammu Master Plan Area. This includes any related purposes that come up along the way.
  • It’s essential to develop each zone properly. We aim to make sure every area follows the plan so that buildings aren’t just thrown up randomly. We’ll also set standards for population density & building density.
  • Additionally, we plan to reserve at least 10% of the total land area in each scheme or project. This will be for housing for economically weaker sections & low-income groups.
  • Finally, we will acquire, hold, manage & dispose of land and other properties. This includes doing building and engineering work. We’ll also focus on developing projects that are economically viable for non-residential/commercial purposes.

History and Establishment – JDA Jammu

The Jammu Development Authority JDA started in 1970 under the Jammu & Kashmir Development Act, 1970. It came about because Jammu needed better ways to manage urban development. The city was growing very quickly, with more people coming to live there. That’s why the JDA was given the job of planning, developing, and managing land use. They want to make sure that growth happens in a good way—sustainable and planned out.
